Kipling, the internationally recognised bags and accessories brand owned by VF Corporation, operates through authorised retail partners in markets where the parent company does not run a direct-to-consumer online store. In Cyprus, the brand's local partner needed a dedicated e-commerce platform that would bring the full Kipling catalogue online for the first time — allowing Cypriot customers to browse, compare, and purchase without visiting a physical retail location.
The challenge went beyond simply listing products. The store had to faithfully represent Kipling's global brand identity — the signature monkey keychain, the playful yet functional aesthetic, the seasonal collection structure — while adapting to local market requirements including Cyprus-specific payment methods, local shipping logistics, and bilingual considerations. With over 500 SKUs spanning men's, women's, and children's lines across bags, backpacks, luggage, and accessories, the platform needed robust catalogue management, variant handling for sizes and colours, and real-time inventory accuracy to prevent overselling.
Additionally, the local team had limited technical resources, so the platform needed to be manageable by non-technical staff for day-to-day product updates, pricing changes, and promotional campaigns.
Techlink partnered with the Kipling Cyprus retail team to audit the full product catalogue, map the collection and category structure, and define the merchandising strategy for the online store. We studied Kipling's global digital presence to ensure visual and tonal consistency while tailoring the user experience for the Cyprus market.
WooCommerce was chosen for its flexibility in managing large product catalogues with complex variant structures, its extensive payment gateway ecosystem for local integrations, and its WordPress-based admin that the retail team could operate independently. The custom theme was developed to align with Kipling's brand guidelines while prioritising mobile shopping performance — a critical factor given early analytics indicating that the majority of target customers would browse on smartphones.
We delivered a polished e-commerce store that serves as the official Kipling online retail channel in Cyprus. The homepage features rotating seasonal collection banners, curated product highlights, and category quick-access cards that guide shoppers to the right product in as few clicks as possible. Product listing pages offer multi-faceted filtering by category, colour, price range, and collection, while individual product pages display high-resolution imagery from multiple angles, detailed specifications, and colour/size variant selectors.
The checkout flow is streamlined for conversion with guest checkout, saved addresses, and integration with local payment providers alongside standard card processing. Behind the scenes, the WooCommerce admin gives the retail team full control over product listings, pricing, stock levels, promotional discounts, and collection curation — all without developer involvement. Inventory is synced with warehouse operations to maintain accuracy across online and physical retail channels.
